Q. I
thought my web site looked great until a
colleague said he couldn't even access it on his
pc. He kept getting a message box that stopped
the site working at all. What's wrong?
A. There can
be one or two things that cause this. Perhaps
the most common one is the use of a programming
language called "Java Script" during the
development of your site.
"Java Script" is often used for what's called
the "mouse over" effect that makes the colour of
buttons and the like change when a user puts
their cursor over the button. This effect can
look interesting. However, the downside of Java
Script is that it will not run on a number of
older machines . Good programmers would
recommend an alternative method although if you
really like the effect I guess it's a business
decision as to whether you leave the navigation
like that or change it. It is my view that not
one single prospect should be prevented from
using your site - change it!
